Adding a basement walkout to the church

Very few of the kits we buy for model railroading buildings have walkout basement provisions like you see when buildings are built into hillsides (as a lot of them are in White Haven). Here's a picture of the Episcopal Church on Berwick St.

As you can see, the downhill side of the church has a walkout level, but the church kit I bought has only a short brick-to-grade foundation. If I wanted to replicate this feature, I had to do a little tinkering.

I started by taking a block of styrofoam and cutting an insert into the top of the block to slide into the structure. I then cut the block to fit next to the green styrofoam block in the picture. Without checking out the prototype I glued in a green exterior door on the back corner, scored the styrofoam to simulate a stone rubble foundation and painted it (first black, then a mottled gray. Once I get the terrain finished, I think it will blend in pretty well.
